Steak Niçoise Salad

These DELICIOUS t-bones were the star of our Nicoise-inspired, classic French Salad. Typically served with tuna, the steak version is served with just a few extra twists.

Ingredients (Serves 4)

For the Salad
2 large T-Bones (Marinate in soy sauce, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce and Montreal steak spice)
1 head romaine lettuce
2 large beefsteak tomatoes
1/3 cup red onion
2 tbsp capers
3/4 cup of olives – Nicoise and Kalamata
Small bag of baby potatoes
1/2 bag of frozen hericots verts (green beans)
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp seasoning salt
1 tsp Herbes de Provence seasoning
4 eggs boiled and peeled
1/3 to 1/2 cup blue cheese (crumbled)

You’ll need to learn to multi-task for this one!

  • Marinate steaks for a couple of hours and bring up to room temperature prior to grilling
  • Cut your baby potatoes in half and toss with olive oil, seasoning salt and Herbes de Provence. Roast at 400 for 25 minutes. Remove from oven.
  • Drop your green beans into boiling hot water and cook for 2 minutes and dry. Place into fridge to chill.
  • Boil eggs – drop eggs into cold water and place on heat. Once the water starts to boil, boil for 4 minutes. Remove from heat and plunge into cold water bath. Peel and slice in half.
  • Get BBQ up to high heat. Grill steaks 3.5 mins per side on direct high heat. Move to indirect heat for 3-4 more minutes depending on how you want your steaks done. Rest for a few minutes before slicing into thin strips.
  • Cut your tomatoes in wedges and your onion in thin slices.
  • Wash and dry your lettuce in whole leaves.
  • Assemble your salad: Romaine lettuce on bottom of plate and then arrange strips of all other ingredients. Top steak with blue cheese, top tomatoes with red onion and capers. Serve with dressing on the side.
